Karina Melendez… 22 yrs old, was born and raised in Chihuahua, Mexico. She and her family moved to Los Angeles, CA four years ago. She only learned English and Sign Language just two years ago. Karina attended The RIT National Technology for the Deaf, and became certified in computer programming for Windows, MS Word & Excel. She even won two awards; a “Wheels to the World award” and “Most Vocationally Motivated.” She is currently attending a technical college, taking courses to become a medical insurance biller for Hospitals. While she enjoys studying and learning medical terminology, her real passion is in modeling. She has modeled in Beauty pageants and participated in Caesar Chavez Day parades. Karina is continuing to pursue her dream of becoming a famous Deaf model, now in LA with a manager & coach. She has a heart for helping cancer patients and the elderly. For fun, she loves to dance, go to the beach, and spends time with her family & close friends. She is thankful for this opportunity to be modeling in MICA 2008.
